about

Canadian-born SIM and Netherlands-based Sueuga team up for 'Sumergir': a pair of heavy mutant-dancehall cuts that re-envision the club sound. Submerged in technoid dancehall rhythms and D&B intensity, the first two tracks unravel carefully in mind-bending, bass-heavy composition. 'Sumergir' tastes like the sea amidst a technoid-earthquake. This lento-cut grinds under frenetic modular drones and jagged synths that emulate the feel of pressure produced by deep-sea submersion. Structured by a liquid-rhythm melody and a low-bpm/high energy groove, the track blows up like a laser-bass hitting its target: hard.

'Fibroid Motion' follows ferociously, within the same riddim-esque cosmos. Here the thumping groove meets with a resonant-flanged arp lead. Tantrums of flanged bursts align flawlessly with rhythmic patterns and pulsing FX textures. Heavy.

To wrap the record, the task of remixing falls on Jordanian Toumba and Montreal-based Ultima Esuna. Toumba's work reclaims this lento-parallel, rocking between arabic-folk swing and spooky classic-dubstep wave (perhaps reminiscent of RKT). Ultima Esuna reworks 'Fibroid Motion' under a dungeon of dembow; a radioactive-reggaeton joint that catches the precision of the original cut’s fibrosity.
